not a fluke?

Guess who's been sleeping through the night?  The medical definition of sleeping through the night is 5 or 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep, which she's been doing for awhile, but the last three nights she's only woken once each night after 8 hours to nurse for 15 minutes and then returns for another 3 hours!  Yay!  The best part is that we accomplished all of this without having to let her "cry it out" and she's in her own crib in her own room!  It's been a long 14 weeks, but we did it!  At least for now...  I hear there's a "4 month wakeful" period?

congratulations! i don't know about a 4 month wakeful period, but hopefully cassidy's teething goes better than amelia's has been. she would sleep for a few weeks, then be up every 4-5 hours, then sleep for a few weeks, then be up, but she seems to be getting better. it's been a long last month and a half.

Awesome! I'm so glad for you -at least she didn't take after Uncle Shaun who didn't sleep through the night until he was 9 months old!!! You two are awesome parents - there is so much love - it' so obvious! We're really proud of both of you. She is so incredible - we miss seeing her already and it's only been a week. She changes so much with each picture we see.

Love all 3 of you!!!!

hmmmm, good question stacy! i really think it has more to do with her than any particular "tricks" or "methods" but i would recommend reading "healthy sleep habits, happy child". it taught me a lot about the science of sleep and respecting her need for sleep. i also learned how to look for "sleepy signs" and try to soothe her down before she ever became over tired. the author does endorse crying, but we never had to get to that point, which makes me really happy. we're also big fans of an early bedtime, swaddling, darkness, and a white noise machine. hopefully that helps a little?
