lessons learned

Now that things are winding down and coming to an end, I can't help but look back on my pregnancy and think of all the things I've learned, what I'll think back fondly upon, and others I would be quite happy to never experience again...

Things I will not miss about being pregnant:

1.  I see, on average, at least 200 people a day, including students and faculty.  I will not miss being asked every second of every day "How much longer?" or being told "Wow!  You've gotten SOOOOO much bigger!"  Seriously, at no other time in your life do people feel your body is completely up for public discussion.  I have sworn to myself to be much more sensitive to pregnant women in the future.

2.  Having to get up to pee four times a night

3.  Not being able to tie my shoes

4.  The lovely and ever expanding growth on my forehead

5.  Heartburn

6.  Not being able to lie on my back

7.  Not being to drink my red wine!!!!

8.  Sweating uncontrollably in the middle of winter when everyone else is cold

9.  People sharing their gruesome tales of "someone they know" had such an awful /pregnancy birth or the idea that we "have no idea what we're in for!!!" advice

Things I will miss:

1.  Cassidy's little foot nudging me under my right elbow

2.  Feeling completely justified in wearing fleece or sweatpants to school every day

3.  Everyone dropping everything to help me whenever I need

4.  Feeling justified in having an ice cream sundae every night of the week

5.  Knowing that what my body is creating is something so special and amazing that it leaves me in awe

6.  Not having to hide my pudgy belly under large shirts and sweaters

7.  Having Brian talk to my belly with the sweetest little voice

8.  Preparing our home for a new life and trying to find things I think she'll like
