Dear Cassidy,
Yesterday you turned one month old. Your Daddy and I cannot believe how quickly that time has passed. You change on a daily basis which is very exciting, yet also a little sad knowing you'll never be this small again.
Although it's in no way official (we measured you ourselves) we think you've gained at least two pounds already! We're guessing you're at least 11 pounds. It makes perfect sense considering how much you like to eat! You've been an excellent eater since day one and it makes me feel so good to know that you're thriving on something that I can provide for you. Right now you seem to be between sizes. Newborn clothing is definitely getting tight, yet you're not ready to move into the next category quite yet. You're not chubby, yet you have a round little belly and cute little rolls on your arms and legs. It's a shame that we have to keep you so bundled up because Daddy and I love to play with your little arms and legs.
Your developing more and more of a personality each day. For the first three weeks you LOVED to sleep on your belly on our chests. You would snuggle in and we spent hours upon hours on the couch. There were many days I didn't shower or brush my teeth until late in the afternoon for fear of disturbing you. Now that you're getting older it seems as though you're starting to fall into a natural routine. You're an extremely easy baby, yet nighttime is proving to be more difficult for me. For some reason you think 3:00 am is playtime and so far the only solution I've found is to bring you into bed with us. I know I'm developing a pattern that will be difficult to break, but after two hours in the rocking chair, I can barely keep my eyes open.
You smile often, but it's mostly in response to a tickle on the cheek or chin or just before falling asleep. You melt our hearts every time and can't wait until those smiles are in response to us and a little more easy to solicit. The time you spend awake is a bit longer than in the first few weeks and we often spend that time singing songs, tickling you, or reading books. You're becoming slightly more independent and letting us lay you down in your crib or the cradle as we grab a bite to eat or a quick shower. I probably hold you too much, but I know that I should cherish this time knowing that it won't be long before I can't keep you in one place for more than just a few seconds.
As this month comes to a close we can only reflect upon how much you have changed our lives, little Cassidy Lane. Your Daddy and I are constantly looking at one another to exclaim, "I love her!" or "I can't believe she's ours!" We are in awe of you and everything you do. Although we know that the rest of your life you will continue to surprise and amaze us, but we will always look back fondly on our first month with our "little monkey".

Taking this picture was not as easy as it should have been. I love how you seem to be screaming "woohoo!" in this pic, but we didn't remember until late at night and I don't care for the lighting...

These are two of a dozen more attempts at taking your one month picture, you're just too cute not to include them both!
Love, Mommy and Daddy

This made me cry.
I'm sorry I haven't been around in awhile. I've been sick and didn't want Cassidy to catch it.
You'll see me this week, promise. And I'll be bringing with one-handed food.
so, so nice. what a great idea and a wonderful memory to have.
awwww. now i'm going to cry.
Oh! Cool. I'm glad you're doing monthly letters. They are so fun to look forward too. A friend did them from the start with both kids and when kid #2 seemed to be crazy she would go back and read kid #1's letters for that month and they were similar- hope that run on sentence makes sense.
That same friend had a super easy #1 and she would bring her into bed at her first wake up. Bringing her into bed got later and later as the baby got older and by 1 (I think) she was sleeping 12 hours straight (not the case for Noah)- just wanted to reassure you about bringing Cassidy into bed.
