This move to the other side has been very interesting. So many things are exactly the same as next door and others are completely different. In 227 we had very few built in book shelves. In 229 there are tons. Therefore, a stand alone bookshelf is something we just don't have a use for over here. But remember that lovely pantry in 227 where we could store all of our lovely dishes and appliances? Not so much here. Although there is much more kitchen cabinet space, it's still just not enough. So in all of our planning, Brian and I decided to take our IKEA bookshelf from next door and repurpose it for the kitchen. We needed to free up some of our counter-space, so we decided to shelve all of our small appliances and cookbooks. We primed, painted, and polyurethaned the wood and wallpapered the back. We're super psyched with the results and hopefully these pictures will do it justice. The kitchen is really difficult to photograph...

One thing I've learned about wallpaper is 1. how expensive it is and 2. that you can only buy large quantities. So, stay tuned for more projects involving this lovely pattern in the days and weeks ahead. We plan on using every square inch!
