After visiting Brian's parents last week we realized that maybe we were inhibiting Cassidy's ability to progress physically. Up until that point she had three stations, either her exersaucer, her playmat, or our laps. At the Weigands we just let her play on the rug and she rolled all over the place and was as happy as could be. So, this weekend we made a purchase and did some rearranging. Here's Cassidy on the new living room rug with the coffee table pushed off to the side. It's such a small change, but makes a world of a difference. Once again I don't feel the need to hold her all the time and she's much more content. You can actually observe her learning new skills on a daily basis.

I totally agree about learning to give them space. Cora started walking shortly after we moved the coffee table out of the middle of the room to the side as well...it wasn't in the way of her learning to move from one area to another!
the rug looks great- and her hair amazes me every time i see it.
