For our birthdays my parents bought us a rice cooker/steamer so I could make Cassidy's baby food. I started this weekend and I had so much fun! No really, it's super easy and I love the fact that I will know the exact ingredients going into my little one's belly, not to mention how much cheaper making your own food is. I made sweet potatoes, apples, peas, and pears. Earlier in the week we tried bananas and avocado, but you don't need to cook either of those.
I started taking pictures a little late, but here's the cutting board and steamer after I had already used them.
I made two trays of sweet potatoes, each consisting of 12 1 oz. cubes out of two potatoes. Once filled, you put the lids on and pop them in the freezer for 8 to 10 hours. Once thoroughly frozen, you pop out the cubes and put them in labeled freezer bags. Easy peasy!

Oooh, sweet potatoes are on the menu this week for Gus. I've made him apples, pears, bananas, avocado and carrots so far. T-bone steak and chocolate cake are next week's plan.
This blog made me wish I had made Cora's food! Maybe I'll do it with the next baby we have!
