Your Daddy and I cannot believe how quickly you're growing and changing! This month brought with it soooo many milestones. Hopefully I remember them all...
Let's see, we'll start with laughing. Cutest. Thing. Ever. You hinted at it back in the beginning of April. If the timing was right and we were willing to make fools of ourselves, a little high pitched squeal, almost like a gulp of air would escape, always accompanied by an ear to ear grin. These days, your laughs are much more easily obtained and can last for as long as we can. They're infectious and all who spend time with you see this as their goal.
You can sit all by yourself! You haven't pulled yourself up from laying down, but you're working on it. Those abs are getting tighter and tighter each day. It all starts with your fascination with those cute little toes. They're mesmerizing. As you stare, you sit so steadily. But when you decide to "catch" them, you drop at the waist and start to gnaw. Sometimes you're over enthusiastic and land sprawled out on your tummy.
This past weekend you rolled over from your back to your belly and are gradually getting the process down to a science. You pull your feet up to your mouth over and over and over again. Soon you start to fall to the side, then turn your head back, arch your back, and flip! It takes another second or two to release your underarm, but you always look up at us with such pride. We can also get you to go from your belly to your back, but you have to be propped up just right. If only you didn't hate tummy time so much!
You still haven't slept through the night again, but you're averaging only two wakings a night and they're quick. You're super easy to get to bed, for the past two weeks we can lay you down drowsy but awake and you'll promptly close your eyes and fall asleep. You're usually down between 6 and 7 and up at 5:30 am.
This month we started daycare. Although it's not the most wonderful place in the world, it works for now. The first two week you refused every bottle they tried to give you, but this week I had to up it to three bottles instead of two! You're becoming much more independent during your play time and I can't help to think that's a result of daycare. The second week you came home with your first runny nose and last week you caught a cough that has yet to go away. I keep telling myself how tough your immunity system will be when you're older.
Your unofficial stats:
You are 16 pounds and 13 ounces, and that is
at the 79th percentile for weight.
You are 26 inches, and that is
at the 73rd percentile for height.
You have a head circumference of 17 inches, and that is
at the 79th percentile for head circumference.
Anything else? I guess you just seem more like a "baby" rather than a "newborn". You react to our every move and facial expression, you're not nearly as breakable, and you never sit still. You're just so much more fun each and every day. We love you!
