The time has finally come! I am officially done with my student teaching. The only things standing between me and my May graduation are my last Praxis exam (Saturday March 15) and my portfolio defense (not yet scheduled).
One of things I did with my students was to teach them an Apple computer program using a newspaper template. They are writing their own newspapers about the Civil Rights Movements. The paper pictured above was the example I came up with to teach them the program. The day before I taught it I had shared a photo album. They, of course, saw me in my hippie days and thought it was absolutely hysterical. So, I figured, if you can't make fun of yourself.....let a bunch of 10 year olds do it. Anywho, you can click on the image to make it bigger.
My student teaching was a blast. Both my cooperating teachers, Debbie and Simona, were absolutely amazing. They both shared with me skills, knowledge and wisdom that you just can't get from a book. The students at the Highlander School are amazing and I can't wait to work with them again. I was asked if I could come back for 5th grade Farm School in 2 weeks. I get to go live on a farm for 3 days with 36 5th graders. They have to get up at 6 a.m. and milk the cows, collect the eggs from chickens and shovel you know what. I am very excited. I will also be going back to Highlander in May until the end of the school year to fill in for a teacher going out on maternity leave. So things are looking up.
AJ is still diligently working on her National Boards stuff (or playing Scrabulous on Facebook). She is in the final month of preparation and starting to stress, even though I know she is going to be amazing.
Hope everyone out there is doing well, we miss you all.
